Our first butterflies made their appearance today! It is absolutly amazing that these creatures were caterpillars just a few days ago! We actually got to see one come out of its chrysalis. It happened very quickly. I went over to peek at the first one that had come out and noticed that it was standing on another chrysalis. That chrysalis started to shake and the butterfly hopped off of it. Then very quickly, the 2nd butterfly wiggled out! It happened so fast, but Caleb had time to run over the see it and he had two friends over and they both got to watch it as it rolled out its wings - which also happened very quickly.
About 20 minutes later, a 3rd butterfly had emerged - it happened so quickly that by the time we looked again, it was already stretching out its wings.It is really hard to take pictures of them!
Two chrysalises still remain quietly hanging in the net. One is darker than the other one, so I'm guessing we will have 4 butterflies in the morning :)
Okay. Now I guess I'm gonna have to get me one of these kits. I thought they were for kids but you and Lori have just had too much fun with them.
