Another Book : Oops

On a recent library trip, Caleb randomly pulled books from the shelf and one of his selections was Oops by Arthur Geisert. It turned out to be a very timely pick!

Not long ago, I told Caleb "No more sippy cups!" and started only giving him cups without lids. (Unless we're out, that's different.) Of course we've had lots of spills (lots and lots of spills, not all accidental). Oops is a funny little story that uses only pictures. The title "Oops" is the only word in the story! The story starts off showing a family of pigs living in a precariously situated house. The mama pig calls them in for breakfast and while they are eating, one of the piglets spills his milk....which runs off the table, drains down a vent into a paint pan, the pan falls and turns on a wood grider under the house. It catches the clothes line, which snags the wheel on the saw table and topples it onto a wagon, the motion of which turns on the saw, and it is rolled down to a beam supporting the house. The saw saws through the beam and the house begins to fall, which pulls a pipe away from the water pump, which bursts and soaks the ground around a large tree that begins to fall and catches the powerline, which pulls a transformer down onto a large rock, and the large rock rolls down the mountain and crashes into the pig's house!

Believe it or not, this book has made a pretty big impact on Caleb's being able to drink neatly from a cup without a lid!
