Update from Haiti #2

Early images...

This is the road they were going to take - but because of the backed up traffic...

they took this road instead...

Rob's objective - set up a radio station - chicken friendly.

Hardware Store

I think he took this picture for the kids :)  Natalie calls it the "Friendly Puppy"

The tallest boy is named Erick and he came with them on the flight to go home.  He had been in Miami for surgery, but as of the last update, they had not been able to find his family!  Pray they can find them soon!

Update from Haiti #1

Rob called :)  They are there - Mary Babcock Elementary School & Living Hope Haiti.

Before he left - about 24 hours before he left, Rob was still very nonchalant about this trip.  He'd heard they'd have cell service & internet.  He assumed there would be A/C...

About 23 hours before he left, he did a radio interview with the leader of the team he is working with.  No cell service, no internet, no A/C, and...no running water.  But there would be some kind of phone, so he could call to say they were there.

The flight to Port au Prince left on time and was shorter than the combined flights my parents took to get down here.  We watched on a flight tracker website to make sure it got there.  From there they got on a retired Miami-Dade school bus to drive out to Artibonite - a 3.5 hour drive.  They landed at about noon.  So I started expecting a phone call at about 4.  He called at about 9.  This is all he told me - we talked for 1 minute:

1.  There was an accident on the main road.
2.  They had to take a detour.
3.  The detour took 7 hours.
4.  The road was really bumpy for at least 5 of those hours.  He said "like that safari ride at Disney - only nonstop for 5 hours".
5.  Every creek they crossed had people washing clothes in it.
6.  He took lots of pictures.

Then he had to hang up.  I think there are going to be some interesting stories.
