North Carolina

I am hoping to post a few picture a day for a few days, I'm not sure I will have time to add much commentary!  We had a lovely 2 weeks in North Carolina.  We stayed in the same home as last year, but visited many different sites.  The amazing thing about the area is that it seems to have an endless number of hiking trails and waterfalls.  You really could spend years exploring it all.  We had beautiful weather (even the last rainy day was beautiful in its own way) and got to see a lot of animals on our "hope to see" list.  Also, even though the peak of the fall colors is still about a week away, we saw the leaves change quite a bit while we were there.

During the six hours of driving up Florida, I read this:
I found a Dave Barry article online about Hurricane Irma and the kids enjoyed it a lot.  This book was not exactly kid material!  It was, however, very funny!  Especially after living so long in Florida.

All the way up we shared the road with utility trucks leaving Florida.  I couldn't even count how many we saw - and a LOT of them were from Canada.

We started getting into the hills and that was fun :)
The Monday before we left Irene fell and needed stitches in her chin.  She was supposed to have them out the day we left, so we considered our options and in the end, Rob took them out - very easily.
Once we got there - what a difference!  This is the view from the porch:

Many more pictures to come - we saw bears, an otter, and soooo many elk.
