As Advertised

The seed package said to expect plants 7-12 feet tall...
Big Boy is 7 feet 3 inches tall
The Eastern Sister before her bloom
Our first sunflower!

The Western Sister (of the Two Tall Sisters) is also very tall.  She is taller than me, but probably a foot shorter than Big Boy.

    1. Maybe that's what's so nice about it. I knew I liked it, but since no one was smiling, I couldn't figure out why! I think it looks kind of like a band photo on a cd cover.

  2. I'm jealous. Looked like our growing season might start early but now they're predicting snow overnight. Yuck!

  3. I can't believe you haven't had to stake your sunflowers up yet. The big heads on ours caused them to lean way over so we had to tie them to the fence for support. Do you have birds that will eat the sunflower seeds? We enjoyed watching that.

    1. I did stake the one that bloomed first. Her bloom is not that big, but we have had a lot of wind and she was not up to it. We have a 2nd bloom (also small) that seems to be holding up for now. Big Boy's stem is very thick, but I think his flower will be big and heavy too. And, I'm sure we have birds that will want to eat the seeds! I just hope they leave a few for us to roast!
