When I was a very little girl, my mom and dad tell me, I used to request "Row Row Row Your Boat" by saying, "Sing Row! Sing Row!" Lately my kids have been more into singing and I have been very amused by the song titles they request :) and it has inspired me to make a little puzzle to go along with them.
Their name for the song is the clue, then in parenthesis I've listed the number of words in the real title, followed by the number of letters (excluding spaces.) All these songs are pretty well known.
1. Round Round Round (5 Words, 17 Letters)
2. Baby! (2 Words, 12 Letters)
3. Ashes (4 Words, 18 Letters)
4. Under a Bush (5 Words, 21 Letters)
5. The Farmer's Dog (1 Word, 5 Letters)
6. Female Deer (3 Words or 1 Word depending on how you look at it, 6 Letters)
Post your answers as a comment and I'll send the winner...ah, hmm...accolades and praise.
you know as a musician and former music teacher I had to try this:
ReplyDelete1. Row Row Row Your Boat
2. Rockaby Baby
3. Ring around the rosy
4. I originally thought "on top of spaghetti", but changed it to all around the mulberry bush
5. Bingo
6. do-re-mi
This was fun. Here are my answers.

Woo-hoo! Great Job Lori, you got 6 for 6! Obviously you are a pro at decoding kid-speak! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job too Meredith :) I thought #4 would be the hardest, since the song really says, "under a bushel", but the funniest one to me was #6 because Caleb had me stumped at first when he want me to sing about a female deer!
I always called the song Doe, a Deer, so I guess that's why I knew it. :)
