While I was getting dinner ready, Caleb and Annalise seemed particularly quiet in their play, so I knew I needed to investigate.Annalise was on the floor of the bathroom sliding around - she's not walking yet, but she was indeed crawling and sliding around at the same time.
Caleb was leaning over the toilet seat with the hand soap pump, pumping out handfuls of soap and smearing it all over the toilet seat - he used about half the pump. I took the pump away and grabbed a towel, then I made sure he was looking at me, "Caleb," I said, "You aren't in trouble, but don't ever do this again!"I washed them up, but both of the children had a strong, relatively pleasant floral scent the rest of the day.
Otherwise, look how much my jackfruit tree has grown! It was no more than 3 feet tall when I planted it last fall (September '07 - the picture is from February of this year). I couldn't even begin to measure it now, but I estimate it is around 10 feet tall!

And, after trimming back a severely overgrown bush in our front yard, I found this in my yard! I *think* it is a bromeliad, although I will need to have my green-thumbed friend Nina identify it for me next time she's over. I did not plant this here; there are actually 4 separate plants and bromeliads are very prolific in Miami. Sometimes if you have one in a pot outside, it can have babies outside the pot and I think this may be how this happened. Looks pretty good for totally neglected! The tops of the leaves are deep green, but the undersides are bright purple.
ha ha! Hey... a jackfruit tree! Now THAT'S exotic.
ReplyDeleteYes and it's supposed to get 30 feet tall! The fruit is really big and (I'm told) tastes like banana. Evidentally it produces a lot and you can't give enough of it away, hopefully we will sell the house before it starts bearing fruit!
