Sometimes I Wish I Was a Dog

Not long after we got Mako, Rob took him to the vet for a check up. He had a bald spot on his tail and, as it turned out, had worms. In one brief visit, the vet addressed both of those issues, tested Mako for worms, and sold Rob the medicine Mako needed. One stop, everything taken care of.

So last month was Caleb's 3 year physical and I mentioned to the doctor that he had a rash from sleeping with his mouth open. She glanced at his nose and referred me to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. I called the office, and we could only get an appointment 3 weeks later. We went today, waited almost 90 minutes for the doctor to spend 5 minutes looking at Caleb's ears, nose, and throat and declare he needed...saline mist. Nevermind our regular doctor copay is $35 and the specialist copay is $50...and we buy our own insurance (read NOT CHEAP)...and we only have a limited number of office visits the insurance will pay towards before we have to meet a deductable. What I'd like to know is why on earth the pediatrician didn't know to suggest we try saline mist!

Argh.
