Pie...as Mentioned in my Previous Post

Since we've been in Ft. Myers, we try to go out and explore as a family on Saturdays. We don't do this in Miami because just getting out of the city is work itself, but maybe we should. We've had a lot of fun.

Today we went to LaBelle, a town about 45 minutes east of here. LaBelle is the home of Flora and Ella's - a restaurant started by two sisters and their mother back in 1933. As you might have guessed, Flora and Ella no longer work at their restaurant. They both died a few years ago. The food is southern-comfort food, but Rob and I opted for BLTs to save room for their famed pie.

Rob picked coconut...
I sampled the chocolate. I was amazed at the height of their meringue! Caleb had been too excited about the pies to show much interest in his real lunch, but once he tried them, he said he "didn't like that stuff" (i.e. the meringue).

Annalise had some "see" food.

Kind of reminds you of Cracker Barrell...well 1933, I guess vice versa.
