A Fourth of July Hotdog and a Patriotic Gorilla

There's nothing like a holiday in Miami:

So we were in Miami for the "Fourth". The station partnered with the city of Homestead for their fireworks show. Basically every year they have a big musical show before the fireworks and they let the Call have a booth out by the food vendors. Well this year they canceled all the food vendors and the music, and somehow the station got to emcee most of the event. It was pretty awesome because it cost the station nothing and they got a lot of great publicity.

Unfortunately I forgot the camera, so all of these pictures are from other parts of our short trip.

Here's one of the vultures perched in a dead tree next the the Sonic in Naples. It was right on the highway and in a shopping center parking lot, but the tree was all gnarled and twisted and it was just covered in these awful black birds. Appetizing, I know!

Caleb and Annalise enjoying star puffs...kind of patriotic. I'm sure they each ate about 50.

There is a community parade in Whispering Pines each year, it's cute, but nothing spectacular. Caleb really liked it...especially the floats that threw candy!

Annalise says, "What! No candy for me!"

Military flyover.

They also had a few animals from a local petting zoo.

They both look so interested in each other.

And it wouldn't be summer without watermelon!
