A Peek Inside...

Our 3rd ultrasound went very well. The ultrasound tech said she was sure that I measured too small because of the baby's position - however - today she was head down! In fact her head was so low that the tech said that would affect the fundal height too. Size-wise, everything was fine. She appeared to be about 3 1/2 lbs and the tech said I could expect about a 7 lb baby at term.

Anyway, the impression I got is that I will continue to measure too small because not only is the baby very low, but also the place where they measure the fundal height is where my uterus dips (I have a bicornuate or "heart shaped" uterus). So long as her growth does not appear to be compromised, all this doesn't matter much to me.

Obviously this is her profile - I think she's going to look like Rob, mostly because she doesn't have my prominent chin. Most of the pictures I have from today are hard to identify. The live pictures were easier to distinguish.

Here's a little foot. In one of the live shots, we saw her opening her mouth and sticking out her tongue! Rob said he thinks that means she'll be a little chatterbox! Guess time will tell.

Is it silly? I felt a little giddy that she is head-down. It's really not that I'm excited about having a normal birth - really the thing that appeals to me is that I could potentially hold her right after she's born. (After a c-section they mash the baby near your face for a quick kiss and then everyone goes in separate directions.) Still, it's normal for babies to be head-down. After spending the last few days reading about transverse babies (statistically 1 in 2500 at full term) and Caleb being so irrevocably breech, I had gotten used to thinking of myself as being a reproductive weirdo.

Well after another peek inside the womb, I'm feeling even more excited to meet our little girl!
