Roadtrip Pics

With our road trip in the rear view mirror - it is easier to look back and think of it as a successful one.  Our kids did amazingly well - I only threatened once to make anyone ride on the roof of the van.  I think it helps that the kids know that the first day is not going to end at Grandma's House.  The second day is when I break out the Road Trip Pills (M&Ms).

Natalie at at rest stop in Florida - after sitting in a car seat so much, she though she'd prefer riding on top of all our (brightly cased) pillows.  (They all made it home, by the way).  I never got around to taking a picture of all the van decs.  I wrote on the windows with a "window writer" - basically shoe polish.  You can see some of our designs in this picture.  The other side had a candy cane and a Christmas tree. Rob was totally ok with it and not at all embarrassed to be seen with me :)

Desperate times call for desperate measures.  We also played family trivia with M&M for prizes.  This is a made up game that tests the kids' knowledge of whos' who in our families.

Caleb had a bout of "Take my Picture" in the hotel lobby.

On the way home - the Arkansas Midland Railroad.

This is the Jaketown archeological site north of Belzoni, Mississippi.  That's the catfish obsessed town we went through 2 years ago.  This is one of two mounds that date back to 1000 BC.  It has not been excavated, but they found items around it that dated it.

Yes you can play battleship in the car, Candyland...I don't think so.  When we played at my parents house, Caleb moved his ships as soon as I hit them, but Brian caught him and I think he knew and obeyed the rules in this game.  At any rate, he won.

There is such a thing as a free lunch!  I don't like ordering too much food and Natalie is very delicate and light eater.  I almost never order food specifically for her at restaurants.  But we ended up with a kids meal and an order of chicken bites that we didn't ask for.  They told us to keep it since they couldn't serve it to anyone else.  By the way, the one tiny bite in the burger is Natalie's - someone else at the rest.

Rub a Dub Dub three kids in a hotel bed.  This won't work much longer, Caleb was almost too long to lay sideways already.

Would you believe we did more than make snowmen and drive 2000 miles! Well we did! Those pictures are coming up!
