Kid Speak

Caleb style:

Today we were driving and passed a disheveled man on the side of the road. Caleb asked about him.

"He's homeless." I said and answered the rest of his questions about the man.

A little ways down the same road we saw a jogger, "Is she homeless too, Mom?"

My current nickname for Caleb is "The Master Negotiator" I don't know if he is even aware that he does what he does, but he never takes things from other kids (including his sister) - he talks them into giving whatever they have to him. Sometimes if he has something he doesn't want, he talks the other kid into taking what he has.

Case in point: They have these two handheld Leapfrog electronic toys. One is very much like Daddy's blackberry and the other one is larger and has an attached pen. The "blackberry" is the preferred toy. One morning, Annalise was playing with the "blackberry" and Caleb wanted it. So he picked up the larger one and started extolling it's merits. He tried several different angles - telling that the one he had was more "girlish", more fun, etc. but he hit pay dirt when he told her that "the big one is for big kids" - Annalise happily traded toys.

Annalise style:

Mispronunciations are such a fun part of being 3!

Maggots - those things that stick to metal

'Roxide - the stuff that doesn't burn when you pour it over a cut

The Star Sprinkled Banner - our national anthem

Annalise: Mommy, do I got any nicknames?
Me: Well...sometimes I call you Curly.
Annalise: Ha-ha! I gonna call you Straighty!

I had just nursed Natalie and Annalise came over, she hugged her and asked lovingly, "Are you full of best milk?"
