The Big Four-O

Happy Birthday to Rob! Yesterday was his actual birthday, today was only the national holiday. For some reason the post office remained open... In honor of his birthday I made a yellow cake with chocolate icing:
I wasn't inspired with something that really reflected Rob's interests this year, so he talked it over with the kids and they wanted a "Zoo Cake", which turned into a lion cake, which turned into an Aslan cake. I thought it turned out nice (the ears are iced ritz crackers), however it did have a structural integrity issue - the icing was too heavy and broke the side off the cake while we were out for dinner. Still, its fall was not as great as last year's tower cake!

Yes, we used 40 candles! The fire extinguisher was not "just a prop" for the picture.Fortunately we didn't have to use it!
I don't know if it's the glow of the candle light or what, but I think Rob looks too young to be 40! Happy Birthday Robbie! I love you :)
