Rain, Heavy at Times

The last couple of days have had the best kind of rain - no thunder. I know other places, if you go out in the rain, you get wet and cold, but here, you just get wet, so I enjoy sending the kids out to play in thunderless rain. I'm pretty sure they enjoy it too :)
Of course this sort of activity necessitates a complete wardrobe change - including underwear, each time you go out.

Here are some more of our rainy day activites:

It's August and that means Honeydew melon is excellent for 4 short weeks, I mentioned to Caleb we needed to get a King of the West Honeydew this week and he immediately wanted to do a craft - I know excellent honeydews are inspiring, so I suggested they make paper crowns:

A few months ago, Caleb helped me make a diorama of the Road to Emmaus for a class I was leading at church. He brought it up again and suggested we make one of the resurrection - this is when the women are noticing the empty tomb and just before Mary misidentifies Jesus as a gardener:(Hey Meredith, can you guess what we made the path out of?)

Caleb quizzed me half the day on this cartoon:It came with an order from a broadcast equipment company and was extremely difficult to explain to a 4 year old 1-Why it was funny 2-What a deserted island is. 3-Why the men look disheveled and are not pirates.

And the kids put this puzzle together...well together in the most perfectly contented way without the slightest hint of an argument:

Oh and Natalie - took 3 restful naps and was ready for bed by 7:30, I think she must be growing again!

  1. Are you sure the deserted island isn't a place where they send the pirate radio people when they catch them?
