37 Weeks - No Belly Pic!

Here I am at 37 weeks, which is officially full-term, come as soon as you feel like it baby! Anyone want an update?

  • I have had weekly ultrasounds for the last 3 weeks to monitor my amniotic fluid. Here is some amniotic trivia: they measure amniotic fluid in centimeters and the normal range is from 10 to 18 centimeters and they measure the pockets of fluid from top to bottom. My fluid has been more than 9, but less than 10. If you get to 5, that is dangerously low, but 9 is just in the monitoring range. This week I actually increased by 1/2 cm and the perinatologist has decided that my fluid is stable, since I have less than 2 weeks to go, I feel kind of dismissive about it, that is, I may not make my belly-busting, waterlogging "water goal" for drinking every day next week!
  • Despite my stable fluid, I have to have another ultrasound next week to check for growth because I am still 5 weeks off in my fundal height (the top of the uterus is called the fundus) - they compare growth measurements in 4 week intervals, so the ultrasound I had this week was too soon to get that in too. An ultrasound to check fluid is very fast, but a growth check is also pretty fast. All they measure is the length of the femur and the circumference of the head and belly.
  • Despite all these ultrasounds, I don't have any cute ultrasound pictures because the baby is facing my spine and is evidently very comfortable in that position!
  • I feel pretty comfortable for being 37 weeks pregnant. I know better than to complain because at 37 weeks with Caleb I was not comfortable at all. If I were to compare all 3, his was the most difficult pregnancy.
  • During all 3 I have gained about the same amount of weight. Right now I'm within 2lbs of what I gained with Caleb. Actually with Annalise I quit paying attention at the end, but I know it was about the same.
  • Sleep is actually better these days than it was a couple of months ago. Clarissa told me that it is always best to lay on the side opposite your baby's back, and it IS so much more comfortable! I can't believe I've never read that anywhere, instead it's always "sleep on your left side", which for me is the wrong side.
  • We have not installed the car seat, borrowed a bassinet, or packed a hospital bag yet! However I did set out the bouncy seat and put up the pack and play (downstairs) to let the kids check things out really well and get over the newness before we add an actual baby. And I've stubbed my toe on the bouncy seat twice...already.
  • Names are always our little secret, but we have reached consensus on a boy name (pretty much 100%) and the girl name is probably at about 95% - I've just had one of those white car moments with the name, like when you get a new car and suddenly every other car on the road is the same color as yours. At VBS this week, it seemed like every 3rd girl had the name we have chosen.
Oh and this is my desktop background these days:
