Sometimes at red lights, I'll notice that the car in front of me has a college decal on it and I always wonder if they're a current student or just like me - driving an old car :) I was so proud when I first got this decal.
I got the White Car (a '93 Chevy Corsica) as a birthday gift when I turned 17. My birthday's this month and I'll be 31 - so that's 14 years. It's been all over with me and since we bought the van, it has become an extraneous vehicle that our family doesn't need. We considered selling it, but it's got issues with its brakes, power windows, and (most significantly) air conditioner, and I was worried about selling an unsuspecting someone a lemon, so we decided to donate it to the Miami Rescue Mission - there they will sell it at auction and use the proceeds for their work.
These scars are cosmetic, but they show some of it's wear. You might notice that while the driver's seat is threadbare, the passenger seat is still in good shape - most of the time I drove this car alone.
The Blue Book value of a '93 Chevrolet Corsica is pretty meager - even in the best condition, so we weren't expecting to make significant money on this anyway, I hope it does more good this way. Here are some pictures of the White Car being carried away. *snif* It kind of feels like it did when we sold my pony.

This reminds me of when we sold my little Mustang because, with five kids, we needed a van. It was the first car I really loved--maybe the only. I was so sad, I couldn't watch the people drive it away. I stayed upstairs in my bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I loved the White Car. I certainly felt defensive for it - if Rob said something about how the Saturn was better, I always defended it. What I think I will miss most about the White Car is how it reminded me of being in college, which I did love :)
ReplyDeleteaww.. the white car. My car that was hard for me to sell was my VW Beetle.
ReplyDeleteIm 16 and I got a 92 corsica and just painted it and all. I love the car and its In really good condition considering we just exchanged a faulty alternater
