My neighbors got me into storing my green onions outdoors. I can do this year round. In the past I have placed them in a shallow pot in the front. They grew a little, but stayed about the same size and height. I tried putting them in my gutter planters on the fence in the backyard and whoa, stand back! I guess they like afternoon sun because they started to really grow!
This batch also budded and bloomed flowers, which have been interesting to anticipate and observe. Now they are attracting several pollinators and it looks like we will have onion seeds to sew.

| Caleb with the tallest one. |
I did use some of these, but once they really got established, I couldn't pull the roots up without pulling up all the dirt in the gutter, so I cut off what I needed and the onion root is growing it right back.
