Mid Christmas Update

I've been keeping up on everyone's Christmases even though I can't post any pictures of ours - for the first time in my memory, it snowed on Christmas day.  Snowing isn't even an annual guarantee for south Arkansas and even when it does happen, it almost never happens in December!  But the forecast worked out for us to get about 1-2 inches of nice wet snow with no ice.  Perfect for making snowmen - and we did!  My parents have a small levee when the pond was put in and Caleb and I rolled a ball up and let it roll back down until it was too heavy to push up anymore.  The resulting snowman was probably the tallest snowman I've ever participated in making in Arkansas.  On Christmas Eve the weather was so mild, we played outside with long sleeves, but no jackets.  Just gorgeous.  Then today we saw the forecast and if we had been headed to Ohio, the entire route was covered with a freezing rain advisory!  So we are thankful for this to be our off year!  Mako is enjoying his preferred status among the dogs (my Mom said that he has the tater, which is a saying I've never heard before, but she said it means he's better off then the others - their dogs live exclusively outside).  I'm sure even without the "tater,"  Mako is just glad we didn't leave him at home.  Yesterday was my birthday and we went to Old Washington State Park (it was the capitol of Arkansas during the civil war) we are having cake tonight - Slow Cooker Chocolate Lava cake and ice cream.  I have heaps of pictures, but they are all locked away on my camera with the cord back in Miami.  Today has been dark and overcast with a misty rain.  Sounds dismal, but I like the change of pace.  I can get my sunshine next week when I have to cook all the meals, etc.  So until then, Happy New Year from the Natural State!
