Our Summer Birthday

Never mind our summer goes on until after Annalise's birthday, Natalie is our real summer baby :)

Last night we celebrated at home.

Smash-cake action:

Gifts (note the wardrobe change...and the overly helpful siblings!)

After looking at many options, I finally thumbed through an old Taste of Home that had featured a cupcake contest. I decided on a cupcake with cream cheese icing and summer berries - kind of a 4th of July cupcake, but Natalie loves blueberries and she was supposed to be born much closer to the 4th of July anyway! I thought they turned out nice and wow - super duper easy!

Our friend party was a very nice time. We met at a park where you can reserve the tables, but just bet on there being a free one. (Reserving them was $100!)

Caked again!

Aaaaand the pinata - I will post more pictures soon, it worked exactly as designed :)

So first birthday stats -

Natalie was weighed and measured yesterday - 17.75lbs (by FAR my lightest 1 year old!) and 27 inches tall. She isn't walking yet, but is crawling much faster, climbed the stairs all the way to the top twice today, and cruises very well. She has made a few baby signs, but hasn't really taken off with it. She says "da" for Daddy and "doh" for dog, also "hi" (and it usually has a southern drawl sound to it) and for me it's kind "mmmmmmba ba". She'll get there ;)

  1. I love the family picture! Also like the cupcakes, and the pinata is really cute. Did the kids help make it? Mine don't care much for the way paper mache feels. (Tyler won't participate at all.) It looks like everyone enjoyed her day. :)

  2. Thanks! Annalise helped with the first layer. And Caleb helped on and off. It wasn't as much fun as they thought it was going to be, so I ended up doing most of it after they went to bed. They sure liked the result though!
