Thoughts on 3...

...months with 3 kids.

1. I have been asked (literally dozens of times) how "it" is with 3 kids - and honestly I don't think it's that hard. The hardest transition was having Caleb - going from no kids to a kid was incredibly life altering.

2. That said...I have so little down time. I thought I could fudge C & A's break time to meet up with Natalie's nap, wrong! Natalie likes to stay up late, Annalise wakes up as soon as the sun peeps over the horizon. So "it" is pretty busy.

3. Being so busy, I have found that my personal wants have blunted some. I usually like to try new recipes all the time, but I am so happy to just have FOOD to eat that I don't really care how many time we've had spaghetti since Natalie was born. (More details on our current menu on Leah's Kitchen)

4. Caleb seems pretty much the same since Natalie's birth, but Annalise is reacting more like Caleb did when she was born. I guess that comes with the territory of being displaced as the baby.

5. For some reason, even if all 3 kids are right in front of me, I have this weird feeling that I need to go find one of them.

6. Our laundry is actually cleaner than it needs to be - purely because I know I wash some clothes that are clean when I wash the kids' laundry. Sometimes clean stuff gets tossed in the hamper when we clean up their room, sometimes they put it in to be funny (and you know I'm laughing.), they also put in all sorts of toys, which are easier to weed out, although I did once wash the foldable frame to the play tent without it being damaged - that was before Natalie though.

7. I can go grocery shopping with all three of them, but it is so much easier not to! I found some great shopping rules online that I immediately enforced for our outings - they are Don't touch and Don't ask. Basically that covers everything :) We also usually add and Stay close to Mommy.

8. What else can I say? We are outnumbered - I only have two hands. Three is a lapful, and I love them all so much.

  1. I am amazed that you are getting so many pictures where all three are smiling. Are you sure you're not photo-shopping them?

And remember-Annalise not only got displaced but became the middle child! That's a lot to live up to ;-)

  3. I hear ya on the "can" shop with them, but I'd prefer not to thing. They are such cute kids and Natalie is looking so big.... not like a newborn now. I guess the biggest thing is to just enjoy them while we have them so close all day.
