She also likes to find mommy/baby pairs - even if they aren't things that could be in a mommy/baby pair - like two rocks, anything where there is a big and a small. And she will make her toys talk to each other, cook dinner, or go to bed. As I said, very little girl - I can remember doing some of those things.

Playing Pretend
Watching my kids play pretend is one of the things I best like to see them do, and what's funniest about it is that they play pretend in totally different ways.
Annalise plays very traditional girl-pretend. She even called this "playing house" without my telling her what she was doing. Caleb helped her arrange the house and lure Mako inside and brought her various toys to "cook" for him.
I'm so proud of Mako for being such a good sport!

Caleb, on the other hand, would probably be offended if I even suggested what he's been doing is "pretend". To him, a cartoon is pretend, anything real is real. He likes to set up a "store" in front of our house and will bring out everything not nailed down from the front garden to "sell" to our neighbors.
When playing "store" he will sit by his wares and hold up a sign, which he waves at passing cars. He's currently selling mulch, rocks, shells, and coconuts; and he is incredulous that no one has bought anything yet!
