3 in a Row

For the last 3 days I have had some part of the day where someone else watched both kids for me and I left the building where they were being kept. I don't think that has happened since Caleb was born! It was a sort of perfect storm of events that I didn't try to plan. Actually on Friday I only had Annalise almost all day long. Rob took Caleb fishing. They caught 4 modest-sized bluegill - and by modest-sized I mean that 2 of them were very small.

First Caleb fishing:

The big catch (Annalise was petting one fish):

On Saturday, Rob and I attended a funeral in North Miami for a Haitian lady - my friend Tammie's grandmother died - it was a very interesting experience as the service as almost totally in French. They did translate some of it into English. The kids stayed with our friends, the "L" family. Annalise did not want to leave! I asked her, "Would you rather go to Disney World or to the L's house?" In tears she said, "The L's house!!!" Keep in mind, she pronounces all Ls as Y for now.

On Sunday a friend invited me to go out for lunch, so Rob handled lunch and nap time. As I left church to go with my friend, I rattled off a list of potential lunch foods, but it happened to be $.49 hamburger day at McDonald's, so you can guess what they had! When I got home, Caleb said, "And Mommy, we drank APPLE JUICE for lunch!"

Today, I had to take that deliciously fun glucose screen. I was careful not to eat or drink anything besides water after supper last night(last time I drank some OJ before I left the house). It was an hour and Rob watched the kids again.

So I'd like to say I'm totally refreshed from a weekend of less responsibility, but I am 24 weeks pregnant and after all the excitement I'd kind of like a nice long nap!

  1. I have to make a correction - just after Annalise was born, I spent 7 kid-less days in the hospital while my mom cared for toddler Caleb and newborn Annalise day and night and Rob kept me company. It wasn't fun, but it was more than 3 days :) Thanks Mom!

  2. Enjoy those days! They are often few and far between at this stage. By the way, we have a postcard to send Caleb of one of the grubs farom Australia. They didn't have any on hand to taste;-)
