The Big 4

We are planning a party with friends for Saturday, but Caleb still had a pretty big day today - his actual birthday. I have told him for a long time that when he turned 4 he could chew gum, so that has been a big deal today. I know that sounds very small, but both he and Annalise were very excited about it...well Annalise was much less excited about it once she realized I was not going to give any to her!

He got to open his gift from me and Rob today - a fishing pole of his own.

So while Annalise and I went to Bible study, Rob took Caleb fishing and they claim to have caught the biggest fish ever in all their fishing expeditions. Caleb says he's sure it was a barracuda...or a tarpon. Whatever it was, it broke the line and got away!

Caleb displaying an assortment of gifts. He got the ring pop from the people at the bait store, the shirt from Grandma & Grandpa and the balloon from the security guard at Publix...I am not kidding - going to the grocery store with Caleb is a social adventure - he has so many friends there!

Not birthday related, but a project from today - Caleb called it "Mako's cozy place". He (Mako) is really much more obliging to the kids than I ever dreamed he would be, which is not to say he likes it when they pull his ears.

Since we are having a party on Saturday, we will have the cake then (and post to follow), but today there was a special event at the station during the morning show and Rob brought home a huge box of doughnuts (after we'd had breakfast), and I searched online for a way to use them in a way that was more appetizing than stale the next day. So we made them into bread pudding (I will post the recipe on Leah's Kitchen in the next couple of days).

FOUR! Finally an easy number to show with fingers :)

  1. Happy belated birthday, Caleb! The big 4 -- that's awesome! I want you to build a cozy place for me in my house like you did for Mako. Looks like a great (and safe) place for a nap!
