I like blogs and I wish I could post more. I can't seem to find time to write for it though! I've found that when I post things at night, I end up with lots of typos and confusing wording. Sometimes I'm tempted to write about something that is better left off the internet. I've made an unwritten rule not to blog, comment or email after 10pm - at least most of the time!

We are nearing the end of our school break. Our plan to make a park blog is not really materializing. We have visited two unfamiliar parks and found one that is a keeper. This week it rained really hard the morning we'd planned to go.
The unfinished math is finished! Cheers all around! I need to order the next math workbooks. I often buy books on a website called Homeschool Classifieds, and I can always find textbooks, but usually not workbooks. Math is really the only subject where I made big purchases. I found a spelling curriculum free online and I plan to continue with our article projects. Reading is easy - the library! Plus someone is always giving something away. My friend Carmen offered to lend me some of her science textbooks too.

Irene is actually making progress in potty training. I'm not ready to send her out into the world diaper-less, but she has a lot of success at home. It is not like potty training an older child. I see that it will be a long time before she is independent. That's ok, time has given me perspective. Even an older child can have accidents for a long long time or need help from time to time. The funny thing is that I was getting tired of watching the clock to take her to the bathroom - more accurately, watching the clock was tiring. So I decided to sort of take a break for a week or so. I found that the new plastic lined training pants, plus a pair of leggings is as effective as a diaper in preventing a puddle (something I wish I'd known a LONG time ago!), so that is how she was dressed most of the time (from the waist down). I'd get a sort of mom sense that she needed to go and decide I was too busy to deal with it, but every time I'd feel like that, she'd have an accident! I read that some parents "just know", but I didn't expect to be one of them! I decided I'd act on that feeling and things turned around immediately. Will things go messily backward a few days (or hours) from now? Of course. That is what childhood seems to be like.
Since the park thing is kind of fizzled, and since it needs to be done anyway, I am little by little organizing the garage (again) and I have found that my favorite thing to find is trash - because I always know exactly where to put it!
