The Real Reason We Took This Trip (in May)

I realized in the course of this trip that I liked going north in the springtime more than I do during the winter.  I know that sounds silly, but icy cold and snow just sound so appealing when you have no chance of getting either one.  But springtime, glorious springtime!  Nice weather, no coats, no complicated pile of gifts to stress over not smashing enroute.

Our travel dates were chosen because of a family memorial gathering in honor of Rob's grandmother who died a few months ago.  The family met at the cemetery in her hometown and then went out for lunch together.
Caleb dressed to impress.

Then we went on to Columbus:
At Graeter's - some trivia - you can buy Graeter's Ice Cream in a pint at our local Publix.
Uncle Dick's Famous Memorial Day BBQ
Irene and Aunt Shelly

Grandma keeping things calm at the kids table.

Then we moved up to Cleveland...
Bubble Mania at the Great Lakes Science Center - this guy told me he used to be the "main guy" at the Frost Science Museum in Miami.  There was a family right behind us from Arkansas.

Will she always be this flexible?

Mentos and Diet Coke - Caleb gets picked for things like this a lot!

She told them to stay behind the rope.

We toured the USS Cod submarine.

I end up in more pictures when I'm not the photographer!
I asked Natalie for a favorite memory of the trip and she said:
"Seeing a real bunny!"
At a Cleveland Metropark:
The kids wanted to find a salamander, but it was not to be.

  1. Your best chance for salamanders was in the Smoky Mountains! That's one of our favorite things to do while we're there!

  2. Obviously the rabbit was the highlight of the trip. Duh.
