| Homemade Paci Strap - $0 |
Once we had the pacifier, it was clear we needed a pacifier strap because when that thing tumbles out of her mouth is disappears into the most bizarre places. I made two from stuff I found around the house - the snaps I found in a hotel sewing kit, the fabric was a ripped sheet, the clip was from a name tag.
Here are some questions I have for those of you who have pacifier experience:
1. Currently all the pacifiers we are using are the same type. Can you used different types without the baby making a fuss or have we chosen our path?
2. About what age do babies learn to replace their own pacifier?
3. What is a good age to take it away? (And how did you go about doing that?)
We were very fortunate with BOTH boys, they were hard core passy kids but got colds around 6mo an couldn't breath with it in.. So we just never gave it back.. Worked for us.. Hear it's easier to break from the passy that the fingers but i don't know. Also know my boys were ok as long a the nipple style was the same.. If that changed they were NOT happy! Good luck an keep posting the pics! Love 'em
ReplyDeleteLOL So in a few months, maybe we will seek out playdates with friends who have colds! Breaking from the fingers is not easy at all. For Annalise, we basically had to wait until it bothered her to be seen sucking her thumb before she would even look into quitting. But in the end, it was a cold that did it - she didn't want to catch Natalie's and I told her she'd fare better if she didn't suck her thumb and she quit just like that.
Deletesame type paci. We waited until 22 months to pitch it for Gwen and it was ROUGH! She could say the word "paci". We pitched it at 14 months with Zeke and it went much better. I haven't done it yet with Romy but soon. We threw them away in the trash... all of them so we wouldn't be tempted to use them again. We cut them and showed Gwen that they were "broken". I've heard of the "paci fairy" and other methods, but I'm not into fictional characters coming over to the house... creepy.
