Drawing the Koala
I found a little workbook at Goodwill about different countries. It is a Kindergarten/First Grade level book and simple to the point of pointlessness on it's own, but as a springboard, it's a nice little book. Annalise is going through it and we are looking at one country each week - this week was Australia, so after she did the Australia page, she watched a YouTube about Kangaroos, visited the Koala at the zoo, and figured out (roughly) what time it is in Australia compared to here. Clearly, with a subject like Australia we could go on and on, but the point of the workbook is an overview of the world, plus she is eager to move on to Brazil next week.
Last week it was Argentina (they go in alphabetical order) so we had authentic Argentinean empanadas from a bakery in Kendall. I'm not sure how much more Argentinean they were there than the ones at the Farm Store on Old Cutler Road. She didn't care for them (ours were chicken), but I thought they were good.
Annalise likes to make silly faces for the camera!
