Pumpkin Patch - at last!

Until last week, my kids had never been to a pumpkin patch that wasn't also a church parking lot.  So they were very excited that my parents took us to Suzanne's Fruit Farm in Hampton, Arkansas.  Of course to get there we had to take this road:
(Actually I think this was a shortcut on the ride home.)
They had their first hayride - which went past a farm raising miniature horses, a stray cow and a flock of wild turkeys!
(Caleb wore a UM t-shirt to the rehearsal dinner and one of Adrianne's relatives brought him this Razorback t-shirt the next day!)

They said that wild hogs (no joke) had gotten into the garden and I guess that is why they had this set up - because I had hyped to the kids that we would pick the pumpkins.  They chose them from the maze instead.

Just her size!
The biggest one she could carry!

They also had a zip line, a small train, and a boat ride - kind of a kid propelled barge ride.
Notice none of the parents or grandparents are helping!  The adult you see worked there.
There were also a bunch of yard toys, a playhouse, and a big dirt pile.  The kids had a blast - and they got filthy - further cementing in their minds (or at least in Caleb's mind) that Arkansas is the greatest state in the union :)

  1. It's interesting to think of things from Caleb's perspective: born and raised in Miami. AR must seem EXOTIC to him. A different kind of green, a different demographic of people. I feel like I spent so much time trying to experience things OTHER than AR that it's refreshing to consider it from his point of view.

    1. I have always thought Arkansas is beautiful - even the drive to my school through the country seemed lovely to me then and now. And yes, Arkansas is extremely exotic to the kids!
