Zebra Art

Getting back to business with our Shinglee Art books...
Draw a zebra in chalk on black construction paper - I knew this would frustrate the kids, especially Annalise, who likes to make things look like she envisions them, so we had a horse drawing lesson first.  I showed them how to draw a small oval for the head and a larger oval for the body and then connected them with lines for the neck and then add ears, legs and a tail.  It still frustrated Annalise, so I helped her.

Paint the outline with white paint.

Keep painting...

Add details - in this case, stripes.

Add extra stripes in the background - actually the sample showed the background stripes as perpendicular to the zebra's stripes.  It also had the zebra outlined - which Caleb did.

Caleb's Zebra

Annalise's zebra - mostly done on her own after we got past the drawing part.  I like that she made it smile :)

  1. Wow, it looks like you have (at least) two artists now! That's a cute project.
