I've written before about how much I like the pictures books by David Shannon. His books are very simple, but are so good at highlighting very funny and very real things. Like this book:
Good Boy, Fergus! Is a tribute to Shannon's own dog, Fergus. Fergus as a character actually shows up in some of his other books, but this one is all about him! He reminds me so much of Mako, it's kind of scary!
Obedient is not a word to describe Fergus!Caleb really likes this book too, his favorite page is the "pee" page, where good ole Fergus has marked his territory in six different places.
Anyway, there are so few words in this book, to discuss it is to ruin it for you - it's funny, witty, and really fun. Good boy, Fergus!
My kids still love his books. Danielle picked Fergus at the library (again) a couple months ago. Does Caleb like the Pigeon books? Tyler really liked The Pigeon Wants a Puppy.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't read the Pigeon books yet. It's kind of hard to navigate the picture book section in our library, technically they are shelved alphabetically, but there is no organization past the authors last initial. We found the Shannon book by accident.
ReplyDeleteI rarely just browse the children's area. I read book reviews on Amazon and then reserve the books online from our library. I also use the Scholastic book order forms that Tyler brings home to find books to reserve. I don't mind letting the kids browse, but when I want quality books, I reserve them ahead of time. It also saves me time.
