A Chocolate Lobster

It has become a sort of tradition to make Rob a cake in the shape of something different on his birthday. His preference is yellow cake with chocolate frosting - regardless of shape. I kept this guy a secret until I pulled him out last night.

I've heard that technically lobsters are bugs and it sure seemed like it while I was assembling him! It was actually very easy and only took one cake. The legs are chocolate coated pretzel sticks. The eyes are Tic Tacs.

  1. Great cake! You're so creative. The kids enjoy making Ron's cake. This year it's chocolate cupcakes w/chocolate icing. Tyler thought maybe we should make 2 cakes to hold all the candles, but we settled on cupcakes instead.

  2. Thanks! Yeah, I considered candles, but thought that would make the cake lose something. I always make shaped cakes for birthdays because I'm trying to build up a sort of portfolio - thinking I could make money on the side somehow, but everytime someone asks me to make a cake, they want something more tradition (round or rectangle) oh well.
