Baby Vegetables

For whatever reason, my ticker changes my weeks on Wednesday. According to my nurse-midwife and every other web source I've checked, they change on Saturday. I figure it doesn't matter that much because I'll have to have a c-section a week early anyway...and because these vegetables it's shown recently haven't given me a good idea as to how big the baby is!

At 15 weeks, it was an orange, at 16 an avocado, and now it's an onion. I spend a lot of energy comparing prices per pound and country of origin in the produce department, none of these fruits/vegetables are uniformly sized! I've seen plenty of onions smaller than an orange! The best I can tell is that the baby is bigger than a Little Person and smaller than a curved piece of wooden train track.

I had a check up today and Caleb came along for the first time. He heard the heartbeat and I guess the extra noise on the Doppler confused him because he said it sounded like a there was a lion in there! I certainly hope not!!! I also talked to Clarissa about the c-section to come. Having done this twice, I have preferences! The first time I was clamped together with these little metal clips that looked like tiny hair clips. There were probably six or eight and they stayed on about 3 days. When she took them off, the skin stayed together. The 2nd time, I had sutures. I told her, this time I want sutures! I felt much more certain everything was going to stay together with them! Also, during the 2nd c-section, they put in a layer of dissolving paper to discourage scar tissue. She said that both of these things have become more routine and that encouraged me a lot!

Yesterday made it a full week of potty training for Annalise. Twice today she happily went to the bathroom all on her own. I think she has an independent streak because she doesn't like for me to help her, but on her own, she was content to use the potty. She still had a couple of accidents, but after one of them, she went for a rag to clean up the puddle on her own. Most of the time, she is so cheerful and makes such funny noises. And Rob and I both noticed that she suddenly has moved up a notch verbally.

And Caleb, I'll just post a picture - you really have to click on it to appreciate it :)
