Dallas County Museum

We went to the beach today with some friends and my friend asked me what my hometown was like.  I thought a moment and asked her what was the smallest town she'd ever visited.  She said Albuquerque, New Mexico.  So I knew right off she did not know what a small town was like!  I looked it up and Albuquerque is technically a more populous city than Miami, but the population density in Miami is much, much higher.  I'm sure that does make it feel smaller.

While there is not "a lot to do" in a small town, in a very densely populated town we often don't want to wade through the masses to do what there is to do.  But we found plenty of things to do while we were in Arkansas.  One thing we did was visit the Dallas County Museum - as in Dallas County, Arkansas, NOT Texas - big difference.  I was impressed with the museum - it felt welcoming, not stuffy - like a collection and not much under glass.  It had all sorts of items.

Some highlights:

(This shouldn't be vertical.)  The Awful Taste Spoon for bitter medicines!

Woo Pig Soowie!

Genuine Flour Sack Dress

NOT a metal jellfish...

We've met this furry fellow before!
