Sundries

After we ate snow crab, our week kicked into high gear. On Monday, we went to the zoo:It struck me, I took pictures of animals, but really I was taking pictures of my kids in front of animals. I mean, it's not like I can't find an image of a zebra online!
We got into the zoo for free thanks to our library's Museum Pass program. You can "check out" a pass to the zoo, the science museum, the children's museum, the botanical garden, the art museum, or the history museum. They have a limited number and can't be reserved, but I've gotten 3 now. You have 1 week to use it and can get in four people. (Natalie is still free at the zoo.)
Feeding giraffes...not free, but worth the $2 we thought.
Look, we all have trunks!

On Tuesday, I finished my May goal and read the last 8 chapters of the New Testament. I have had several people ask for the reading schedule, so I am going to post it as a blog in a day or two, but I will say this now: it is a very do-able goal (to read the New Testament in 31 days). For me, it consumed most of my non-sleeping free time, but I'm at kind of a busy time of life I think. Interestingly, I would feel like I was clipping along reading it and not getting much, but then find myself thinking about something I'd read a day or two later.

Aren't they sweet :)

Wednesday I evidently blocked out.

On Thursday a friend watched the big kids and Natalie and I went grocery shopping together. It sure was different being out with just her! What a star! Everyone in the store stopped to talk to her :)I also finished the pinata I've been making for her birthday (another blog post entirely).

On Friday, the kids and I went to visit a potential birthday party site for Natalie - a park recommended by a friend. It had a great playground and a picnic area with a big sign explaining that you could use up to 2 tables for no reservation fee! Unheard of! Two lines down, it said, "No pinatas".

Also on Friday, I made cupcakes for a friend's daughter's birthday - they are supposed to be hibiscus flowers for a lei of cupcakes. I think they look pretty nice in the picture. Up close they are what they are what they are - not perfect.

And (making a rare blog appearance!) Rob spoke at a high school graduation today:
He gave a very inspiring speech :) He told me that he wasn't sure if they wanted him to talk about himself or not, but he decided not to - instead he talked about some inspiring people like William Wilberforce and Mother Teresa. We both agreed it would have been a little magnanimous to give a speech that said basically, "You've got William Wilberforce, Mother Teresa, and ME!" Yeah, just a little tacky :)
