New (to us) Bike

I may have mentioned before that Caleb was given a bike by a family we know. It is a hand-me-down and had a bum tire in back, but otherwise was golden from Caleb's perspective. He and Rob took it to the bike shop and put on some training wheels...

And he took off! The bike has been a blessing for me too. While I was pregnant with Caleb, I was the lone non-senior mall-walker. I would do 3 laps. With Annalise I mall walked some, but not as much, with Caleb in the stroller.

This time, I knew mall walking was not an option. The kids associate the mall with the "dinosaur playland" and that is their soul objective when we are there! Plus who wants to push a double stroller with 60+lbs of kid on it! Whew!

The bike has been awesome because he can go so much faster than on the tricycle. So Annalise is content to ride in the "strolley" and Caleb alternately zips ahead or runs into my ankles. Either way, I'm getting some exercise in!

I thought this was funny - he kind of wants a basket for his bike, but didn't let not having one get him down. He brought out this storage bag my mom gave him and we slipped it over the handle bars and it works just fine for holding his treasures - today a thick paint chip from a wall and an orange blade of grass painted by the power company. This is also one of my favorite things about Caleb - he will want to do something and won't have what he needs, so he just looks around and finds something else that will work. Sometimes it does...sometimes it doesn't!

Today he wanted very much to ride his bike to Publix so he could put it in the bike rack. It is about a 3 mile round trip and he made it in stride. I was and am exhausted!
