Brownies

I am not alone.

I guess it was about a year ago that Rob and I started watching Good Eats on the Food Network. We both really liked it and it was so different than any other food show I'd ever seen that somehow I guess I thought we were somehow unique in our appreciation of Alton Brown's humor. But I was wrong.

I've never been into soap operas, but I like this show with soap opera-like zeal. I don't mind reruns - in fact, if I catch a rerun I usually watch more closely so I can see if I can learn what he's teaching. I like this particular show for a number of reasons, a few of which are:

1. It's funny (which I think is kind of unique in cooking shows)
2. Although AB cooks a variety of ethnic foods, he definately has appreciation for southern cooking - Grandma food.
3. He makes the cooking look like he's using leftovers.
4. He cooks food that I already eat (usually), but don't make quite right.

Anyway, I discovered recently that there is some kind of underground internet fan club for this guy. I searched on the blogger posts and people have whole blogs devoted to Alton Brown! Hmm, and all this time I thought it was Emeril that everyone else liked!

Well, if you don't watch cooking shows then nevermind, but if you've never seen Good Eats and you think you like Rachel Ray better, you've got to give this guy a chance. You might end up like me and not being able to resist having Kosher salt on hand at all times.
